Down Range prep at CRC
The last few days have been strange in that I feel like I'm back in the military. For those of you who are prior military you probably remember the culture, the "hurry up and wait," red tape, medical, dental, weapons training and so forth. I have to admit it, I enjoy it kind of like an old pair of jeans that fit really well. Of course this time I'm getting paid a little better.
CRC is all about preparing someone (military or civilian) to deploy all over the world. In my unit (Bravo Company) there are about 130 people, two thirds of which are going to Iraq like me. Tomorrow I get my gear issued including body armor, helmet, DCU's, other misc equipment and a down sleeping bag.
... A down sleeping bag? Don't they know I'm going to the desert in August?
Anyway, I've got about one more week of this then it's off to Southwest Asia. Fun...
